The fear is real — the cause is usually something else
Hypnotherapy for the phobias and fears that quietly close off opportunities and everyday moments.
Almost everyone has something they feel a little irrational about. For some it's a minor quirk; for others, it's severe enough to close off real opportunities — a promotion turned down because it means flying, a stage avoided because of public speaking.
Phobias bring more people to hypnotherapy than any other condition. The object of the fear is often a stand-in for something else entirely — which is exactly why simply "facing it" rarely works on its own.
Conditions this category helps with
Fear of Public Speaking
Whether it's a boardroom presentation or a wedding toast, a racing heart and blank mind can turn public speaking into dread. Hypnotherapy helps you find your voice again.
Fear of Flying
A fear of flying can quietly shrink your world, from turning down a work trip to skipping a family vacation. Hypnotherapy helps you get your freedom to travel back.
Social Phobia
Social phobia can make ordinary moments — a party, a meeting, a phone call — feel like a performance under a spotlight. Hypnotherapy helps quiet that spotlight.
Fear of Dentists
A fear of the dentist can mean years of putting off care you actually need. Hypnotherapy helps you walk into that chair without the dread.
Fear of Heights
A fear of heights can rule out hiking trails, balconies, and ladders alike. Hypnotherapy helps you feel steady again, wherever you are.
Fear of Injections
A fear of needles can mean avoiding necessary bloodwork, vaccines, or medical care altogether. Hypnotherapy helps you get through it calmly.
How hypnotherapy helps
The fear is real — the cause is usually something else
The thing that triggers a phobic response is often a substitute for a deeper worry underneath it. It's easier to point at "fear of flying" than to name a feeling of being out of control. The fear and anxiety you feel in the moment are completely real; it's the root cause that's usually something else.
Three common roots
A phobia can grow from an actual negative experience that got imprinted as a reasonable response, or from a repressed emotional experience seeking an outlet. It can also come from a pattern of anticipatory anxiety — where the "pre-planning" itself causes the anxiety, not the thing you believe you're afraid of.
What to expect
I work to find that root cause and change your mind's response to it, rather than just managing the symptom in the moment. Every new client starts with a free 20-minute consultation. Sessions run at my Scottsdale office or by Zoom.
